Senior Vice President, Sales Strategy and Operations
Rick Barakat is the Senior Vice President for Sales Strategy and Operations for IMG College, the nation’s leading collegiate multimedia, marketing and licensing/brand management company. Barakat works hand in hand with President of Multimedia, Tim Pernetti and EVP, Andrew Judelson to oversee the company’s multi-media rights sales organization, which includes developing and managing sales and marketing assets at more than 80 NCAA universities and conferences, its national and property level sales teams, and IMG College's marketing, client management, and business development initiatives. Additionally, Barakat is directly responsible for the oversight and development of the company’s Sales Operations functions including budgeting, CRM systems and compensation plans as well as serving as a direct corporate interface with the various Regional Vice Presidents and Assistant Vice Presidents within IMG College, which offers brands a range of sponsorship opportunities including conceptual and experiential assets in 49 of the top 50 U.S. markets.
Prior to taking on this role in 2012, Barakat served as the General Manager of the Virginia Tech project for IMG College where he had worked since the end of 2003. Prior to joining IMG, Barakat held a number of positions at ISP Sports, Raycom Sports and GMR Marketing, all within the sports marketing and sponsorship space with a specific focus on college athletics.
Barakat graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the Kenan Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Barakat also holds a graduate degree in Sports Management from the University of Georgia. He resides in Greensboro with his wife Alison and two daughters, Jordan and Mallory.
